Do I need a permit for a commercial pergola in NYC?
Yes, in most cases. Commercial pergolas — especially rooftop installations — require NYC DOB permits. How long does installation take?

Rooftop installations and projects requiring permits have longer lead times due to DOB approval timelines — typically four to eight weeks from signed contract to installation. Can you install on a rooftop or high-rise building in NYC?
Yes. Capitol Awning carries $5 million in insurance specifically because we take on complex NYC commercial projects — including rooftop installations, high-rise buildings, and sites with tight access constraints. Many contractors aren’t insured or qualified for this type of work. We are.
What's included in the StruXure warranty?
StruXure offers a limited lifetime warranty on their systems. Importantly for commercial clients, the warranty is transferable to new owners — which means it adds real asset value to your property if you ever sell the business or building. What areas do you serve for commercial pergola projects?
We serve all five NYC boroughs (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, Staten Island) and Westchester County for commercial pergola projects. We do not service Long Island or New Jersey for StruXure installations due to dealer territory agreements. If your property is in our service area, we’re your NYC StruXure dealer.
Can we add lighting, heating, and audio to our pergola?
Yes — and we strongly recommend it for commercial applications. Factory-integrated LED lighting, Bromic infrared heaters, Sonos audio systems, ceiling fans, and motorized privacy screens all integrate directly into the StruXure structure. These aren’t afterthought add-ons — they’re engineered into the system and controlled through the same app as the louvers.
